I celebrated another year on Earth today. I’m a Memorial Day (or Memorial Day weekend) baby so I have given up trying to have a formal party years ago because everyone has vacay and family plans for the holiday. Yesterday, I celebrated my day of hatching with my long-time adopted family: The Meyers. Ethel and I have been friends since Junior High and she has always been like a sister to me. I claim her son, Alan, as my adopted nephew and I am proud to do so.
I have been contemplating repackaging and rebooting my personal blog for a several weeks now. I had such a wonderful time today being around some of the people I love and value and consider family I decided to make this birthday blog my first official post on the revamped Mike’s Daily Blog. I generally like to talk about tech and gay rights the most but I also spend time musing about politics and sports too so we’ll see what shakes out in the next few weeks and months.
Ethel has recently lost her mom after taking care of her for 19 years and obviously, I have been more reflective lately. My mom is healthy and active, Ronan has been a very pleasant surprise, and I am in good health and great spirits. I have a little bit of money in the bank, have a warm and safe place to sleep at night, and I’m probably in the best place spiritually I have ever been. Sure I’d like my dream job to open up in front of me like the Red Sea but I certainly have much to be thankful for. I’m excited about the new MDB and I’m hoping some folks start this new journey with me.
